AI SEO Course Study 2026: Findings
AI SEO Course Study analyzed 27 current AI SEO courses from 27 providers to measure what programs teach, how much they cost and how frequently specialist AI search subjects appear in their public curricula.
Dataset date: September 16, 2026
Courses analyzed: 27
Providers analyzed: 27
Denominators: each finding states its eligible set. A program is eligible for an attribute when its public page allowed the attribute to be confirmed as Yes or No.
62% of AI SEO courses teach Generative Engine Optimization
15 of 24 eligible AI SEO courses explicitly include GEO or Generative Engine Optimization in their published curriculum. Study finding
Study finding: GEO is named by 62% of eligible programs, fewer than the share that teach citation acquisition under any label.
81% teach LLM citation optimization
21 of 26 verified AI SEO courses explicitly teach methods concerned with earning, influencing or measuring citations in AI-generated answers. Study finding
Study finding: LLM citation optimization is common among the AI SEO courses analyzed, and it is named more often than GEO.
71% teach AI visibility measurement
17 of 24 eligible programs explicitly teach students how to measure AI search mentions, citations or visibility. Study finding
Study finding: 16 programs teach both citation acquisition and measurement; 5 teach citations without a stated measurement method.
48% of AI SEO courses are free
12 of 25 currently available AI SEO courses with a published price model can be accessed without payment. 2 programs do not publish a standalone price and are excluded from this denominator. Study finding
The median monthly AI SEO membership costs $149
Across 5 paid monthly memberships with verified pricing, the median price was $149 per month on September 16, 2026. The observed range was $27 to $289 per month. Calculated
Across 7 one-time courses and cohorts, the median price was $497, with a range of $189.99 to $997. The two models are not combined into one median because a lifetime-access course and a recurring membership are different purchases.
74% still teach traditional SEO
14 of 19 eligible AI SEO courses also cover conventional search engine optimization. Study finding
This indicates that most AI SEO education currently treats AI search as an extension of traditional search optimization.
Citation training is more common than the GEO label
GEO appeared in 62% of eligible AI SEO course curricula (15 of 24), compared with 81% containing explicit LLM citation training (21 of 26). Study finding
The difference suggests that providers teach citation acquisition under several labels, including AEO and AI visibility, and that the GEO label undercounts the programs that actually teach being cited.
38% name entities
9 of 24 eligible programs name entities, entity optimization or knowledge graphs in their public curriculum. Study finding
4 programs are AI tool courses, not AI search courses
4 of 27 tracked programs teach conventional SEO with AI tools and name none of GEO, AEO or LLM citations. They are kept in the dataset because they are sold under the AI SEO label. Study finding
